Rise of the Penguins GB

Overview

"Rise of the Penguins" is a 2D Side-Scrolling  Action-Platformer for Gameboy. The game is meant to be simple and linear but with some challenging enemies. The game is inspired by ghost n goblins and a bit of mega man.

Features

• 6 levels with a variety of enemies in each level
• 4 mini boss enemies and 4 boss enemies and a final boss
• 6 simple difficulty settings to adjust checkpoints to make the game harder or easier, with checkpoints resetting after a game over but modifiable through these settings.
• Basic hud that shows the highscore, health and time remaining
• Janky animations made by me
• Minimal story with no text -but hoping the game is engaging enough to keep playing

Roadmap / things I want to add 

1. Fix general bugs and places where there is slow down to make it a more polished experience (notion page tracking some issues found) 
2. Boss rush mode 
3. Redo the 1st and 2nd level in the same section style as the other levels
4. Retroachivements 
5. Screenscraper boxart 
6. Maybe more settings like toggle for sound effects, music, lightning 
7. Wish 1: get someone to make a sound track for the game to make it feel more unique. Most likely would have to hire someone.
